THIS IS A MEMBER AND INVITE ONLY EVENT.

FWA is pleased to organize the eighth chapter of our flagship Males from the Top series featuring FWA Male Champions. The discussion will centre on corporate governance, and whether companies should report gender statistics as part of good corporate practices. Countries including Australia, United Kindgom, Finland and Sweden have a “comply or explain” policy, a policy that requires listed companies to comply with a certain percentage of women on boards and executive positions, and if they fail to achieve this target, to explain why. This policy pushes companies to address the issue of disproportionate gender representation in boards and senior executive posiitons.

In Singapore, listed companies are not required to report gender statistics. But should they, to move the needle on achieving gender balance?

We explore this topic with our guest speaker, Ms. Rebecca Lewis, Managing Partner at Arisaig Partners. Joining us in the panel are our male champions, Gregory Roath, Singapore Country Executive and Head of Global Client Management APAC, Bank of New York Mellon, Ian Martin, CEO of HSBC Insurance and our guest panelist, Stefanie Yuen Thio, Joint Managing Director and Head of Corporate Division, TSMP Law Corpration (Singapore).  Shane Akeroyd, Executive Vice president Global head of Account Management and Regional Head of Asia Pacific at IHS Markit, will be delivering an opening address.

FWA Singapore announced the Male Champions initiative at the annual celebration of International Women’s Day on 6 March 2015. FWA Male Champions actively support the advancement of women in their financial careers. The role of men in supporting the advancement of women is of paramount importance given that they constitute the majority of senior leadership positions and make key hiring and promotion decisions. In this regard, FWA is proud to feature selected male champions who support and are committed to the development of women.
