Research shows that physi cal distance is the factor that impacts people the least when they work re motely\, compared to other factors such as inability to relate interperson ally or lack of shared context. It is also common to think that technology is at the centre of the virtual workforce but research shows us that peop le and the relationships between them are at the centre and have the most impact on performance. Leading inclusively in a remote and virtual work en vironment means to be aware of and look out for these hidden traps. It mea ns to consciously use a defined set of interpersonal skills to bridge the gaps that technology created and ensure that all individuals are included. Coupled with this we are often working remotely with clients\, which adds a challenge to the relationship building process.
