In late April 2020 as lockdowns came into force across the world, and supply and demand shocks hit hard, the region experienced a dive in documentary trade finance and economic growth. Today, as the world continues to navigate the economic impact of Covid-19 pandemic, the region’s resilience, coupled with ongoing regional integration efforts and a willingness to embrace digitisation and innovation will be a key factor in the recovery.
In trade finance and payments, digitisation has tremendous potential for enhanced, structured and richer data, greater insight into supply chains and payment systems, and increased transparency and collaboration in the financial services community. In the long run, this could also help promote greater financial inclusion by enabling more corporates – notably small and medium enterprises (SMEs) – to access trade finance.
Join SWIFT’s Head of Trade Strategy and Vice Chair ICC Commission on Banking, Louise Taylor-Digby and Head of ASEAN, Sharon Toh, in a fireside chat as they explore the opportunities of a post-Covid world in the world of trade finance, and what makes for effective trade digitisation in ASEAN.
Registered participants will receive the link for the Zoom session prior to the event.
