Dear FWA members,

Junior Achievement, FWA's adopted charity for 2015, is recruiting volunteers. If you would like to involve yourself as a volunteer and teach a class on financial literacy, work-readiness and entrepreneurship, please see below volunteering opportunities:

Cantonment Primary School (Tanjong Pagar area)
Program: “JA Our Families”
Primary 2 (8 years old)
Group 1: 24th and 31st Aug, 8am - 10am
or
Group 2: 26th Aug and 2nd Sept, 8am - 10am

JA Our Families

Children tend to think everything they want is something they need.  Learning to recognize the difference between the two is one of the first crucial lessons in financial literacy.  By focusing on the roles of people play in their local economy, students understand the importance of work, and the tools and skills to get - or earn - what they want.

The goals of JA Our Families are:  
- Increase the students’ knowledge of how jobs provide for a family’s needs and wants.
- Help students become more aware of the types of jobs family members hold.
- Heighten the students’ awareness of how each person contributes to the well-being of the family
- Help the students learn the importance of working to pay for needs and wants.

If you are interested and are available to teach the entire course over the specified dates, please write to Hau Yee Ng at hauyee.ng@ja.org and Beata Piechura at events@fwasg.org.

Typically the responsibilities of each volunteer are: 
1) Participate in a volunteer training before the volunteer program
2) Make sure to be on time for the class
3) Teach the entire course over the specified dates
4) Be prepared and have fun with the students
